FAQ

COAT (Continuous Open Airway Therapy) is a treatment method for obstructive sleep apnea (OSA). By using oral appliances such as SomnoDent, COAT therapy keeps the airway open by gently advancing the lower jaw forward, reducing snoring and improving sleep quality for your patients.

SomnoDent devices move the lower jaw forward, preventing the tongue and soft tissues from blocking the airway during sleep. This allows uninterrupted breathing, reduces snoring, and enhances sleep quality, leading to better overall patient well-being.

The b-flex Comfort Liner is a soft liner for oral appliances exclusive to SomnoMed®. This technology offers unmatched comfort, adaptability, and stability. It supports and protects each tooth, reduces pressure, and evenly distributes occlusal loads, maximizing comfort and improving patient compliance with therapy.

A dental specialist ensures that the patient’s teeth can support the oral appliance, takes an accurate IOS scan or impressions for the best device fit, instructs the patient on how to adjust and care for the appliance, and monitors patients as their teeth or OSA condition changes over time.

SomnoDent devices are more comfortable and easier to use compared to CPAP therapy. While CPAP machines require a mask and power supply, SomnoDent oral appliances are discreet and convenient for travel. Most patients find it easier to adapt to and consistently use SomnoDent devices, leading to better long-term treatment outcomes.
